Three days is enough to do one Cambodian city properly, not all at once. Here are three different 3-day itineraries I’ve put together from my work with clients, one for each of Cambodia’s main regions, so you can pick the city that best fits what you really want from a short trip.

Comparing other trip lengths? See the full Cambodia Itinerary Guide covering everything from 1-day tours to the 21-day countrywide loop.

Which 3-Day Route Fits You?

  • Choose Phnom Penh tours if capital history, museums, and city life matter more to you than temples.
  • Choose Siem Reap tours if Angkor’s temples are the reason, you’re visiting Cambodia at all.
  • Choose Battambang if you want rural Cambodia, colonial history, and a slower, more local pace.

How Much Does a 3-Day Cambodia Trip Cost?

A private 3-day trip typically runs $300–$400 per person from my quote with clietns, depending on the route, group size, transportation, and which entrance fees are included. For a private trip with a local guide and private transportation, that budget generally covers:

  • Personal licensed guide  : contextual history, crowd avoidance, and local insights
  • Private air-conditioned vehicle  :  fuel, driver, and hotel pickups
  • Meals and food
  • Temple and attraction entrance fees :  the Angkor Pass or city museum tickets

I offer private tours at a reasonable price:  check out my Budget 3-Day Cambodia Tours for the full breakdown.

Book Your Trip with a Private Guide

A private guide can make a short Cambodia trip more efficient  handling transportation, timing, and local context so none of your three days gets lost to logistics. Whichever city you choose, I handle the specifics of that route  museum and palace timing in Phnom Penh, rural village access in Battambang, or temple crowd-avoidance in Siem Reap.

Final Thoughts,

Three distinct 3-day routes Phnom Penh’s history, Battambang’s countryside, or Siem Reap’s temples  each built to be done properly in one region rather than rushed across several.

FAQ: Planning a 3-Day Cambodia Trip

Can I combine two of these routes into one 3-day trip?

Not comfortably each route is built as a self-contained 3 days in one region. Combining two would mean losing a full day to transfers. For a route that pairs multiple regions, see our 7-Day or 10-Day itinerary guides instead.

Siem Reap, if seeing Angkor Wat is the priority  it’s the most-requested single reason people visit Cambodia. Phnom Penh suits travelers more interested in history and city culture; Battambang suits those who’ve already seen the highlights and want something quieter.

Three days covers Battambang’s core sights  colonial history, the Bat Cave, local markets, and the Bamboo Train  at a relaxed pace, since the town itself is small enough not to need more time than that.

Independent travel works for Phnom Penh’s well-marked sites, but Battambang’s rural stops (the fish market, the countryside villages) and Siem Reap’s temple timing benefit significantly from a guide who knows the area.
