2 Weeks in Cambodia: The Complete 14-Day Itinerary
Planning 2 weeks in Cambodia? This 14-day itinerary takes you from the temples of Siem Reap to the beaches of Koh Rong, with stops in Battambang, Phnom Penh, Kampot and Kep along the way. I’m Rain Proun, and I’ve spent over a decade guiding private tours across Cambodia. This is the route I recommend most to travelers who want culture, heritage and beach time in one trip.
Each day includes realistic driving times, entrance fees, and the small details that make a trip run smoothly, such as which ferry ticket to buy and when to visit the temples to avoid the crowds. You’ll also find a budget guide, the best time to visit, visa basics and hotel suggestions.
The route starts in Siem Reap and ends in Phnom Penh, so you don’t need to backtrack. If you’d like a shorter or longer trip, browse my other Cambodia tour packages, or contact me and I’ll adjust this itinerary to your dates and interests.

PART 1: THREE DAYS IN SIEM REAP
Siem Reap is the land of the Treasure, an ancient temple wonder of the world that is the first tourist destination where I grew up in the shadow of Angkor, spending my childhood exploring hidden backcountry trails and ancient temple ruins.

Day 1: Siem Reap Arrival
Pick up from the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) to the hotel in 1 hour and do your activities.
Pick-up time is based on my client’s flexibility and can be morning or evening, and I usually inform them of our itinerary and what things to prepare for the tour the next day.
Day 2: Siem Reap to see the main temples
Leave the hotel at 8:00 AM for a 2-hour journey to Phnom Kulen Waterfall. There are four places that you should not skip on Phnom Kulen.
You will have a view of the mountain, where you can enjoy the top views and take a selfie, which is about 15 minutes away there.
Continue driving to see 1000 lingas, where you can enjoy the thousands of lingas caving in the riverbed for at least 20 minutes.
Continue to the Big Buddha, which is located near the car, where you can pray while viewing the statue of the Hindu god and Buddha, and then climb the staircase to see the Big Buddha up close.
The last thing to do is enjoy the waterfall; you can swim and see the great views of the waterfall.
Around 1:00 PM, we climb down the hill, then have lunch and rest at a nearby local restaurant.
We proceed to Banteay Srei Temple after lunch, where you can spend about an hour admiring the pink sandstone carving.
Return back to the hotel around 5:00 PM and overnight.
Suggestion: What I usually advise my guests is to bring a towel for a shower and mosquito spray and buy a Phnom Kulen ticket for 20 USD per person by cash on the way.
This day works well as a private Siem Reap tour with me personally, so you can set the pace at Phnom Kulen and temple.
Day 3: Angkor Temple Tour
Start at 5:00 AM to see the sunrise at the Angkor Wat temple, the highlight of any private Angkor Wat tour; it is really worth a visit for people who are interested in the golden temple color, and we stay to see the sunrise until 6:30 AM before walking inside the temple.

After seeing the sunrise, I often share Angkor Wat temple history, which includes learning about geography, iconography, religion, the king who uses his religion to rule the country, and so on.
We usually return back to the car around 9:00 AM; we head up to Angkor Thom, and on the way, we stop for breakfast.
It takes around 5 minutes to get to the South Gate of Angkor Thom. We reach the gate of Angkor Thom; we walk and see the god and demon flanked by Naga and the giant faces of the statues, where I always stop the car and share the history of Angkor Thom, the Khmer Empire capital city. We spend 15 minutes before we continue to see Bayon Temple, Baphuon, and Elephant Terrace.
After Angkor Thom, we go to Ta phrom Temple, a Tomb Raider temple where you can enjoy the giant roots of the trees and a really peaceful atmosphere, and we spend time seeing this temple for around 1 hour or longer based on my client’s flexibility.
We return to the hotel between 11 and 12 pm.
Pro Tip: I often inform my clients to buy a temple pass online in advance and wear proper clothes, and kids under 12 years old need to have a copy of their passport or a screenshot on their phone.
PART 2: TWO DAYS IN BATTAMBANG
Battambang is one of my favorite places to see authentic local life and not a crowded tourist place. I often bring and recommend travelers to see this city. My favorite is to see and learn the daily life of people everywhere, which is green.
Day 4: Siem Reap to Battambang
Departure from Siem Reap to Battambang takes around 3 hours, passing through rural farming villages, rice paddies, and riverside communities, and on the way, we stop for coffee and a bathroom.
To visit Sala Khet covers Battambang’s provincial history; this is an old French building where you can see traditional agricultural instruments and musical instruments. The entrance fee is 5 USD per person, and then we go for lunch and rest at a local restaurant.
In the evening, I pick up my clients to visit Phnom Sampov Bat Cave , watch millions of wrinkle-lipped bats stream out of the mountain cave across the evening sky.
Day 5: Battambang Local Crafts
The Famous Bamboo Train (Norry), where I often recommend and bring my client to Ou Srauo Laou; that is the old train station, which takes around 30 minutes from your hotel.
To visit a traditional house where you can interact with local people and learn more about traditional houses in Battambang. This house is unique and the oldest in this province.
Local Handicrafts Visit the spring roll village and local fish paste production (Psah Prohok).
Return back to the hotel overnight
In my opinion: this is a wonderful opportunity to see local life and authentic activities and learn about the daily lives of local people.
PART 3: TWO DAYS IN PHNOM PENH
Phnom Penh is one of the well-known tourist attraction in Cambodia, where I often personally guide my clients, and I know well of Phnom Penh, where I have been working in an office and family there

Day 6: Battambang to Phnom Penh
Drive south towards the capital city, crossing through Cambodia’s agricultural heartland with stops at scenic viewpoints and local snack markets.
On the way you can stop and visit the authentic Kampong Leng floating village and local market before the lunch break. Check into your hotel. Enjoy your own activities.
Day 7: Phnom Penh City Tour
Explore the Royal Palace and the glittering interior of the Silver Pagoda. It will take around 1-2 hours, and you can definitely try the unique Khmer structure style and learn more about the history of the capital city from a local guide.
The entrance fee is 10 USD per person, which is an excellent price for adults.
Discover the world’s finest collection of pre-Angkorian artifacts that are from the 6th to 16th centuries. The entrance fee is the same as the entrance to the Royal Palace.
Explore Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21) to understand Cambodia’s modern resilience and history. You can prepare a small budget of 5 USD per person for the audio guide and entrance fee.
PART 4: THREE DAYS IN KAMPOT & KEP
Kampot and Kep are on the way to Koh Rong, where I often bring my clients to explore nature, the local market, and the old colonial building
Day 8: Phnom Penh to Kampot
Departure from Phnom Penh to the south toward Kampot province takes around 3 hours. Kampot is famous worldwide for its unique terroir and pepper production at a very good price.
Visit Organic Pepper Farm Tour: Stop at a traditional plantation to learn why Kampot pepper is welcome and guided by locals to introduce their farm.
Check in at the hotel and do your own activities.
Recommendation: You can prepare a budget for buying pepper there for a very good price and original taste of pepper.
Day 9: Kampot City Tour
Drive up the misty slopes of Bokor Mountain to explore abandoned French colonial hill-station ruins, Catholic church remnants, and panoramic coastal viewpoints.
Visit the coastal salt-evaporation fields and limestone cave shrines (Phnom Chisor) located just outside town. It is a really great view of the salt field; you can see how to make salt.
On a cool sunset boat trip on the river Kampot you watch the sky light up and see the forest of Kong Kang and the mountains turn purple. I set this up for my clients – 14 people from France in 2025
Day 10: Kampot to Kep
Relax at Kep Beach, explore the historic French colonial villas tucked into the coastal hills, or take a peaceful walk through the jungle trails of Kep National Park.
PART 5: FOUR DAYS IN KOH RONG & DEPATURE
Explore the island beach experience on Koh Rong, a tropical paradise that you will never forget and will always yearn to revisit. Through my annual reservations to Koh Rong for my clients, I have maintained a strong relationship with the ferry company.
Day 11: Kep to Koh Rong
Drive from Kep along the southern coastline to the mainland ferry terminal by taking around 3 hours. When you arrive, you need to show your boat ticket at the boat entrance check-in.
I always purchase the ferry ticket for my clients and inform them to present this ticket at the boat check-in; they must also show it when checking in at the hotel on the island to ensure that the boat will pick them up and transfer them back to the ferry on time.
Take a comfortable speedboat out into the Gulf of Thailand to Cambodia’s premier tropical island paradise, Koh Rong, in about 1 hour.
Check into your island resort, sink your toes into powdery white sand, and swim in the crystal-clear turquoise waters.
Day 12 & 13: Koh Rong
Unwind under the palm trees on pristine stretches like Long Beach.
Day 14: Koh Rong to Phnom Penh
Need to make sure to show your boat ticket to your hotel about your scheduled departure back to the mainland.
Board the speedboat back to the mainland, and my driver will pick you up and transfer you to Phnom Penh for your international departure flight.
I usually arrange for my driver to wait for them at the ferry port for easy access for my clients to see and bring them to the airport on time. I have been organizing and even bring my clients personally to Koh Rong.
